Google Meet is an enterprise-grade video conferencing that available to everyone. People just need to sign up to Google Account to create or join an online meeting with up to 100 participants and meet for up to 60 minutes per meeting. It is really great Web 2.0 for educational purpose especially for this pandemic era since everybody is working or studying from home. It can be used from any modern web or by downloading the app. There is a lot of features of Google Meet which are: -
Unlimited number of meetings: anyone can join the meeting up to 250 participants.
Live captioning during meetings: For better understanding during the meeting.
Compatible across devices: Can be used in any devices.
Video and audio preview screen: Can adjust camera and mic before entering a meeting.
Adjustable layouts and screen settings: Adjust screen display during meeting for people who is very active to less active.
Controls for meeting hosts: Teachers can mute and remove others.
Screen sharing with participants: Share entire screen with others during meeting.
Messaging with participants: Communicate with other in message section.
Integration with Google and Microsoft Office apps: Only required Gmail to join any meeting.
Google Meet really gives benefits for teachers, students and parents. Firstly, it helps them to interact live. They can see and communicate with each other just like they are in a classroom. Besides, this Web 2.0 is really easy to be used by everyone. Teachers, students and parents just need to sign up to Google account and it is free. The meeting also can be done at everywhere in any device. Teachers can easily make an instant classroom, and share the meeting’s code to their students or parents. Students and parents need to click to the link or enter the code given then, they are ready to join the meeting. After that, from the features that provided with Google Meet, the teaching and learning process can be done smoothly. They can present anything by just presenting their entire screen to everyone in the meeting and can chat in the chat box. Lastly, there is also features like white board, background screen and record button that really helpful in teaching and learning process.
